Surface Recordings was set up as a parallel label to ATCR on the eve of the latter’s 40th release. Although 'sub label' seems to be the preferred term in the record industry it tends to indicate that the label’s aim is in some way lower than that of its parent. That is neither the intention nor destination of Surface Recordings. Instead, it aims to be a label of entirely comparable output.

The label is run and A&Red by trance.nu's Ralf Elfving and ATCR's Tim Stark. The two met on a very snowy night in London late in 2003 after Ralf had brought witness of Wonder's enormous 'Emotion in Motion' to ATCR's door. Ralf wanted to work for a label, Tim wanted to start a new label and so it was that Surface was born!

Since that point, they have both worked hard to source the best rising talent in trance music, apply imaginative remixes and design a new trance label that will deliver on its promise. We sincerely hope you enjoy our music.
